Postdoc with Kobi Benenson

A postdoctoral position is available immediately to work with Kobi Benenson. The successful candidate will work in the fields of molecular automata, molecular computation and related areas, with the aim of achieving rational design and implementation of biomolecular systems with novel capabilities to process information encoded in molecular signals. Our goal is to expand native cellular information-processing mechanisms in a rational way. We approach this challenge by developing sophisticated artificial biomolecular networks that embody concepts drawn from theoretical computer science, control and automata theories and other engineering disciplines.

Our methods range from strictly in vitro studies of model systems using biochemical methods, to modifying living cells, including bacteria and eukaryotes. A life cycle of a project would include rational, computer-aided design of a molecular automaton, construction and testing of a prototype in vitro, and ultimately transfer of the automaton to living cells using genetic engineering and/or transmembrane delivery.

Applicants should have (or be about to receive) a PhD; experience in experimental molecular cell biology and/or biochemistry is an advantage. To apply, please send a CV, up to two reprints, and names and contact information for two or three references to Kobi Benenson, at the FAS Center for Systems Biology, Harvard University, Bauer Laboratory, 7 Divinity Avenue, Cambridge MA 02138, USA, or by email.

Harvard University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
