Postdoc with Allan DrummondA postdoctoral position in the Drummond Lab is now available to study protein misfolding. We are pursuing a multidisciplinary exploration into how selective pressure for proper protein folding influences sequence evolution, organism reproduction, and human disease. Our central hypothesis is that protein misfolding induced by mistranslation plays a substantial role in all these processes, as outlined in Drummond et al. PNAS 102 (2005). We are using budding yeast as a model experimental system, employing single-cell measurements, fluorescent reporters and various biochemical assays, in addition to ongoing computational studies. We seek motivated, talented postdoctoral scholars interested in experimental work on a problem of fundamental importance in cell biology, molecular evolution, and human health. Candidates must have completed a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology or related fields. Ideal candidates will display a proven facility for complex experimental work and an outstanding academic record. We offer competitive salary and benefits, state-of-the art facilities, and an exciting environment. To apply, send a letter of intent, CV and contact information for three references to Allan Drummond by email or to Harvard University, Bauer Laboratory, 7 Divinity Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA. Harvard University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Back to Postdoc Positions
