Sequencing

Traditional capillary-based dye terminator sequencing is available in the Life Sciences Sequencing Facility.

In addition, the Bauer Core offers ultra high throughput sequencing on the Illumina (Solexa) Genome Analyzer.

Illumina (Solexa) Genome Analyzer

Illumina (Solexa) Genome Analyzer

The Genome Analyzer can be used for a variety of applications:

  • DNA sequencing
  • Gene Expression
  • Small RNA
  • ChIP-Seq

For more information on the Genome Analyzer, see http://www.illumina.com.

If you are interested in using the system, please speak with Christian Daly (cdaly@cgr.harvard.edu) about your experimental set-up and Jiangwen Zhang (jzhang@cgr.harvard.edu) about your data analysis needs. Each user generates their own sample libraries using Illumina's kits and protocols and then submits these libraries to us for sequencing according to the pre-arranged conditions. Each flow cell contains 8 channels, enough for 7 samples and 1 control. All the channels on a flow cell must be used at the same time, but they may be shared by different groups. If you are interested in sharing a flow cell, please talk to us and we'll try to help match you with someone. The cost per flow cell is $4900 ($700 per sample).
