General Laboratory Guidelines
Please Be Respectful
The staff of the Bauer Core take pride in its collaborative working environment,
friendly atmosphere, and easy accessibility. Please be respectful of the
instrumentation, lab space, and other people working in the labs. Failure
to follow this important guideline may result in revoked privileges and
denial of access to center resources.
Training
All training on instrumentation must be done by Bauer Core staff members.
Training of fellow researchers or colleagues on the center’s instrumentation
is prohibited. If your colleagues are interested in using the center’s
resources, please ask them to contact Claire Reardon (claire@cgr.harvard.edu)
before working in the Bauer Core labs.
Bench Space
- The lab areas in the Bauer Laboratory are used by various groups of
researchers, including the Bauer Fellows and their groups, the Bauer
Core staff, and visiting researchers. Each floor has laboratory bench
space dedicated to each of these groups. If you need to use bench space,
please contact a member of the Core staff to learn about access to the
visitor space.
- Do not use materials or instruments on any benches other than those
dedicated to visiting researchers.
- Do not move instrumentation without
permission from a Core staff member.
Laboratory Supplies and Reagents
Use of reagents and disposable lab supplies will require that you provide
an internal code for billing. We will charge you for the exact cost of
the materials that are used.
Laboratory Cleanliness
Please leave any work area in the same condition in which you found it.
Discard any trash, clean up any spills, and remove all items that you brought
with you.
Autoclaves, Glasswashers, and Media Preparation Services
In general, these resources are not available to visitors. Use of these
resources must be discussed with the Laboratory Manager, Claire Reardon,
by contacting her at 617-384-7913 or claire@cgr.harvard.edu.
